Regulated Funds Controller (AVP)

Position Summary

This individual will function as a Controller for AlpInvest regulated product(s). This person will manage day-to-day operations, financial reporting, and vendor management, among other responsibilities necessary to ensure smooth operations and reporting for regulated products in Europe. This person will be part of a team of regulated fund controllers and will report to the VP in the Amsterdam team of AlpInvest. They will be collaborating across multiple teams within AlpInvest, but also with colleagues in Carlyle that focus on regulated products.

Primary Responsibilities

Fund Operations (65%)

  • Oversee and manage processes performed by third-party administrators (TPA)
  • Coordinate with back-office accounting groups to streamline NAV calculation
  • Provide portfolio management and valuation support
  • Support Cash Management with investment and expense payments and management of a credit facility
  • Ensure timely delivery of information to the depositary
  • Assist Transfer Agency with Investor onboarding activities
  • Monitor distribution agreement requirements
  • Support Investor Relations (IR) with operational due diligence and investor questions

Reporting (SICAV – UCI Part II) (20%)

  • Ensure fund financials adhere to the latest accounting guidance and disclosure requirements (Lux GAAP/IFRS)
  • Assist with the annual audit process, coordinating with auditors and internal stakeholders
  • Support the maintenance of controls and process documentation
  • Interact with stakeholders about valuations, financial statements, AFM/CSSF filings, Board Meetings and Earnings Prep/Call

Oversight/Third Parties (15%)

  • Assist in the monitoring of third-party service providers, including fund administrators, custodians, transfer agents, tax advisers, and credit facility providers
  • Responsible for the maintenance of an effective oversight model, ensuring risk-based reviews of:
  • Fund accounting & period end close process
  • Financial reporting accuracy and timeliness
  • Investor servicing and related workflows
  • Monitor and enforce service level agreements (SLAs) with third-party vendor

Requirements

We are seeking candidates with prior finance experience, strong academic credentials, and an interest in our core sectors. This role requires extensive coordination across internal and external stakeholders, ensuring efficient fund operations, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and vendor oversight. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of fund structures, and experience in managing third-party service providers.

Education & Certificates

  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or business economics with strong academic performance
  • CPA/CA/RA preferred
  • Professional Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in fund operations, NAV oversight, or financial reporting within asset management, private equity, or a similar industry
  • Big 4 Accounting firm background is a plus
  • Knowledge of investment funds and various investment products – either open-ended (preferred) or closed-ended
  • Knowledge of Luxembourg regulatory requirements (SICAV – UCI Part II) and financial reporting standards (Lux GAAP/IFRS)

The compensation range for this role is specific to Amsterdam and considers a wide range of factorsincluding but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
