Department Description
The Investment Accounting team is a diverse group of 46 professionals, representing more than 10 nationalities. The team is responsible for the accounting and administration of all investment-related activities, as well as the preparation of reports based on this information.
The Investment Accounting team consists of two sub-teams: Operations and Support & Control (“S&C”). The Operations Team focuses on servicing investors and deal teams, while the S&C Team supports Operations and other internal stakeholders.
Tasks and responsibilities of the Investment Accounting Department include:
- Preparing and validating entries for investment-related transactions, valuations and other data used in the portfolio accounting system
- Monitoring the integrity of accounting data through ongoing reviews, monthly checks and targeted control projects, including valuation processes
- Developing, preparing and analyzing monthly and annual financial reports for investors and management
- Supporting investment teams during deal closing and throughout the investment lifecycle with financial information and analysis
- Developing and updating policies and procedures to continuously improve processes
- Assisting external auditors in financial and control audits
Position Summary
The Manager will be responsible for managing and controlling accounting processes and procedures, with a strong focus on investor reporting within the Support & Control (“S&C”) sub-team. The role offers the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of private equity operations, reporting frameworks and systems, within an international, high-performance environment. The Manager will report to the VP, Head of S&C Reporting, and will manage a senior reporting specialist.
Primary Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, among others:
Coordination of reporting activities (10%):
- Ensure reporting templates and outputs are up to date and consistent
- Coordinate audit information requests and ensure alignment across teams
- Maintain an effective and efficient reporting control process
- Optimize resource usage and drive process efficiencies
Accounting and Reporting (60%):
- Identify and meet reporting requirements of internal and external stakeholders
- Determine appropriate accounting policies for complex scenarios
- Draft and update financial statement disclosures in line with GAAP requirements
- Maintain documentation of accounting policies and business rules
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness of reporting data
- Review and analyze reports to ensure high-quality output
Projects (20%):
- Execute project tasks and support planning and implementation
- Coordinate stakeholders and monitor project progress
Develop Professionals (10%):
- Coach and support team members in reporting and accounting topics
- Contribute to the development of team capabilities
- Manage a senior reporting specialist
Requirements, Education & Certificates
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Economics, Business Administration or related field
- Audit qualification (RA, CA, CPA or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and GAAP
- Experience within a financial services environment is preferred
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in accounting / audit / control
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
