Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Senior Investment Accountant to join the Amsterdam-based Investment Accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for the accounting, validation and reporting of complex investment transactions and valuations. Working closely with investment professionals and stakeholders across multiple international offices, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of investment accounting information throughout the investment lifecycle.

The position offers broad exposure to private equity investments, international reporting requirements, process ownership and continuous improvement initiatives within a highly professional and collaborative environment.

The Investment Accounting team is a diverse group of 44 colleagues, with a balanced representation of women and men and more than 10 nationalities. The Investments Accounting team consists of two sub teams: Operations and Support & Control (“S&C”). The Operations Team is focused on servicing Investors and Deal Teams. The S&C Team is focused on servicing Operations and other Support teams. The Investment Accounting team is responsible for the accounting and administration of all  investment – related activities as well as the preparing reports from this information.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and validate investment transactions, quarterly valuations and other investment-related information within the portfolio accounting system.
  • Ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of investment accounting records and financial information.
  • Review and validate transactions and accounting entries in line with the team’s four-eye principle.
  • Perform analyses and control checks to ensure the correct accounting treatment of investment activities.
  • Support investment professionals throughout the investment lifecycle, including deal closings, portfolio monitoring and reporting activities.
  • Provide financial information, analysis and ad-hoc support to investment teams across multiple international offices.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external auditors and other third parties by providing accurate financial information and documentation.
  • Act as process owner for designated investment accounting processes, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
  • Monitor process performance, identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvements across the function.
  • Maintain and enhance process documentation, controls and operational procedures.
  • Participate in and lead process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.
  • Contribute to the development and training of junior team members within the Investment Accounting team.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports and investment-related reporting for management and investors.
  • Assist with audit requests and ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (RA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within financial services, private equity, asset management or investment accounting.
  • Good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting systems and advanced Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic international environment.
  • Strong communication skills and fluent English.
  • Proactive, team-oriented and continuous improvement mindset.

Compensation

Base salary (12 monthly installments + 8% holiday allowance paid in May + 13th month payment in December) is EUR 70,000-. which salary is based on relevant working experience. In general, the discretionary bonus will depend on individual, fund/team and firm performance. For guidance, a seasoned Senior Accountant will be eligible for ~ EUR 10,000 bonus for a full year, any discretionary bonus will be prorated for the months employed during a full calendar year.
